About

Edward Hernandez (b. 2001) is a Mexican-American photographer from Houston, Texas, currently based between Brooklyn and Houston. His work is rooted in portraiture, whether personal, editorial, or fashion-forward, and driven by a commitment to honoring the people and stories that surround him.

Drawing from lived experience and formal training at Pratt Institute (BFA in Photography, 2025), Edward moves fluidly between documentary and stylized approaches. His images often sit at the intersection of fashion and intimacy, where a styled shoot can still hold memory, and a family portrait can carry the weight of editorial vision. He’s interested in how people present themselves to the world and how those moments can become lasting visual artifacts.

Edward’s practice is about looking closely: capturing softness, identity, and presence through light and framing. Whether he's photographing friends, collaborators, or strangers, his work emphasizes care, trust, and a deep sense of curiosity. He also works with 35mm film, digital photography, and mixed-media forms such as bookmaking and silkscreening to extend his storytelling beyond the frame.

His portfolio includes both personal series and commissioned work, with a focus on building visual narratives that feel grounded, intentional, and beautifully human.
